Weekend Snapshot.

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

With the warmer weather that we are having now, the boys find themselves outdoors a lot more. Calvin is into scooter at the moment while Athan is into bikes. I often bring them to a nearby open space area where they can *scoot* and cycle all they want without having to worry they will knock someone down. The boys love a *friendly* race too. 🙂 A simple outing like that can really make them very happy. Love their happy faces.

This is one of my favourite pictures taken during our recent family holiday. It was taken with my mobile phone as I did not have my camera with me then (again!). I have to say the quality of the picture is pretty good. Enjoy.

Happy II.

Here are my happy boys again ….

Mr A decided to give his big brother a bear hug. The brother responded with some silly actions and the 2 boys burst out in laughter. While they were having fun, I was snapping away ….

Happy.

snap … snap …. snap ….

Here are my 2 happy boys! With a bit of persuasion, the two boys agreed to sit down on the lawn to let me to take some pictures of them. Well, that only lasted for, like, 30 seconds! Anyhow, I managed to take some nice *happy* pictures of them. They are happy, so am I. 🙂 Look at the blooming white daisy plant at the back of the boys in the pictures. This is a sign that spring is here! I love spring. It is a happy time.

7 Things About Calvin.

Saturday, September 11th, 2010

1. Calvin has lovely manners.

2. He always says hello in the morning.

3. He has a nice smile.

4. Calvin always tries hard.

5. He makes things at the writing table.

6. Calvin is very good at tidying up.

7. He cares about everyone.

These are the 7 things Calvin’s teachers say about him recently when he was “star of the week”.

It’s interesting how the teachers see Calvin. They have listed all the positive things about the boy through their observation of him in the classroom. Here’s my list of 7 things about my little boy from the way I know him at home:

1. Calvin has lovely manners.

2. He has a nice smile.

3. Calvin always tries to be helpful.

4. He can pray by himself.

5. Calvin is very good at tidying up.

6. He always has nice things to say to me.

7. He helps me look after his little brother.

Is my list very different from the teachers’? 🙂

5 Best Things About My Dad.

Friday, September 10th, 2010

My dad is good at fixing the shower.

He reads the bible to me at night.

He eats ice-cream with me.

He pours grape juice for me to drink.

He lets me ride on his back sometimes.

That was what Calvin said when he was asked to list 5 best things about his dad.

Over here in Australia, we celebrated Father’s day last weekend. The children at Calvin’s class did a lot of activities in class leading up to the day. Listing the 5 things about dad was just one of many activities that they did. When I saw the list, I was immediately touched because all the things that Calvin has listed were true, and I knew they meant a lot to him (young as he is). The list of things might be simple, but hey, little children are easily satisfied, especially when the parent spends time doing things with them, making them feel special and important. 🙂

Was the father proud of his son upon reading the list? Of course he is. He feels really blessed to be part of Calvin’s life.

Before School Snapshots.

Monday, September 6th, 2010

It was before school, Calvin was changed and ready and waiting for me to send him to school. Upon hearing he had 5 minutes to spare, the boy decided to play *new game* with the brother. This was what I found/saw

All their soft toys were gathered at their bedroom’s door together with a toy car and a toolbox(Calvin made that at school for father’s day). I was rather cross at the mess, but I decided to ask them for their *story*. Well, apparently, the soft toys which they like to call, baby doggy, mama doggy and papa doggy were *bad* and *naughty* and so they could not get into the room. Yup, they were having a time-out! What about the car, I asked. Mr A said the car was *bad* too and so it had to stay outside. What about the toolbox? What has it done? Well, according to Mr C, the baby doggies were naughty and so they could not sleep in their bed (toolbox) ….. *sigh* What interesting imagination the boys have! I just wanted to laugh it off! 🙂 The best part was, Mr A decided to be the *rescuer* of his toys. He scooped up as many soft toys as possible in his arms and took them away …. cute.

Talking.

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

We were on our way home from day care when Mr Athan spotted a police car. This is what he said upon spotting the car:

Athan: Mum, the police is going to catch Ty. He is going to jail.

Me: What? Who’s Ty?

Athan: Ty is from my day care.

Me: Why would the police catch him?

Athan: Because he’s bad. He disturbed me.

Me: How?

Athan:He took my car away! He’s naughty.

Me: LOL!

Athan:Why you laugh, mum?

Well, truth be told, we have told the boys that policemen’s job is to catch bad people and put them to jail. Little did we know that or rather realise that, in their little world, “bad people” include those who have been naughty or mean to them. Interesting.

Continuing on our way home, Athan was talking non-stop. At one point, he said this:

Athan: Mum, can you buy that computer game at S’s home, the same one for me?

Me: Why do you want it?

Athan: Because I want it.

Me: Do you know how much it is?

Athan: um um um ….. one dollar?

Me: Oh, really? *trying not to laugh* Do you have the money?

Athan: No.

Me: Then how are you going to buy it?

Athan: The man will give me the money.

Me: What man? Why would the man give you the money?

Me: Because I don’t have money!

See how he is talking about “the man” will give him money again? The only thing that I can remotely link to is that Mr A must have seen us paying money at the counter and some guy return us the change. He must have thought that “the man” gives money to us. Interesting how his little brain works and interprets things that he sees.

Precious Time II.

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

One thing that Robin really wants to do with the boys, in particular with Calvin, is to draw with them. During our recent family holiday, he had such opportunity.

I was quite pleased that Calvin enjoyed the drawing time with his dad and he did not whinge. He tried his best. Well, the boy tend to refuse drawing as he thinks he can’t draw well. I guess drawing side by side with his dad must be a very special time to him. Here’s what they have drawn:

Calvin was obviously conscious with his own drawing as compared to his dad’s. I have to say Robin has done a good job in encouraging Calvin to draw what he can see. So, what were they drawing? Here’s a picture of the jetty that they were trying to draw:

It’s probably still early days to tell whether any of the boys has inherited Robin’s artistic talents at this stage. I hope at least one of them has! 🙂
