Weekend Snapshot.

Sunday, December 19th, 2010

We were at the park. It was a sunny morning with only a gentle breeze. The park had a huge pirate-theme playground which the boys loved. The boys ran around the play area, went through the tunnels, went down the slide and chased each other. This time round, I did not have to follow Mr A. Well, I used to have to follow Athan everywhere he went when we visited this park when he was younger simply because he was not confident enough to do all the climbing etc by himself then. Now that he is older and more confident with his large motor skills, he did not want me to follow him anymore. Nice. I sat under a tree and watched the boys. After they had enough of the play area, the boys went on their scooters and *zoom* around the park with me following behind them. I did not mind that as I get to take a walk around the park. It was a nice morning.

Weekend Snapshot.

The boys requested to sleep in the same bed at nap time today even though they each have a bed now. Looks like fun!

Mr A has done quite well with his new bed in that he has not accidentally rolled down (yet!) at sleep time even though we have not put a side bar on his bed (he did not want it!). However, he does tend to get out of his bed one minute after I have tucked him in. When that happens, I just put him back in without a word and he will come out again — this can go on for a few minutes. The excuse(s)? Well, he either said he wanted to pick up a toy to sleep with it or say he wanted a drink or wanted a cuddle or even said he wanted to do a pee or poo! I have learnt to just send him back to his bed immediately without saying a word to him. He gets the idea after a while. I hope he gets over this phase soon.

Bye, Bye Cot!

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

I have finally gotten my act together to get Athan a bed! I know … I know…. it has come a little late for the boy is already 3.5 years old. We have decided to give the cot to a couple at our church. The good thing is, in our church family, baby things get shared around. By that I mean, we give away baby things that we no longer need to other new mothers in the church and the cycle goes on — no waste. 🙂

When I announced to the boys that we are giving the cot away, the 2 of them immediately climb into the cot for a nap! The picture says it all.

This is one of my favourite pictures taken during our recent family holiday. It was taken with my mobile phone as I did not have my camera with me then (again!). I have to say the quality of the picture is pretty good. Enjoy.

Happy II.

Saturday, September 18th, 2010

Here are my happy boys again ….

Mr A decided to give his big brother a bear hug. The brother responded with some silly actions and the 2 boys burst out in laughter. While they were having fun, I was snapping away ….

Happy.

snap … snap …. snap ….

Here are my 2 happy boys! With a bit of persuasion, the two boys agreed to sit down on the lawn to let me to take some pictures of them. Well, that only lasted for, like, 30 seconds! Anyhow, I managed to take some nice *happy* pictures of them. They are happy, so am I. 🙂 Look at the blooming white daisy plant at the back of the boys in the pictures. This is a sign that spring is here! I love spring. It is a happy time.

5 Best Things About My Dad.

Friday, September 10th, 2010

My dad is good at fixing the shower.

He reads the bible to me at night.

He eats ice-cream with me.

He pours grape juice for me to drink.

He lets me ride on his back sometimes.

That was what Calvin said when he was asked to list 5 best things about his dad.

Over here in Australia, we celebrated Father’s day last weekend. The children at Calvin’s class did a lot of activities in class leading up to the day. Listing the 5 things about dad was just one of many activities that they did. When I saw the list, I was immediately touched because all the things that Calvin has listed were true, and I knew they meant a lot to him (young as he is). The list of things might be simple, but hey, little children are easily satisfied, especially when the parent spends time doing things with them, making them feel special and important. 🙂

Was the father proud of his son upon reading the list? Of course he is. He feels really blessed to be part of Calvin’s life.

Before School Snapshots.

Monday, September 6th, 2010

It was before school, Calvin was changed and ready and waiting for me to send him to school. Upon hearing he had 5 minutes to spare, the boy decided to play *new game* with the brother. This was what I found/saw

All their soft toys were gathered at their bedroom’s door together with a toy car and a toolbox(Calvin made that at school for father’s day). I was rather cross at the mess, but I decided to ask them for their *story*. Well, apparently, the soft toys which they like to call, baby doggy, mama doggy and papa doggy were *bad* and *naughty* and so they could not get into the room. Yup, they were having a time-out! What about the car, I asked. Mr A said the car was *bad* too and so it had to stay outside. What about the toolbox? What has it done? Well, according to Mr C, the baby doggies were naughty and so they could not sleep in their bed (toolbox) ….. *sigh* What interesting imagination the boys have! I just wanted to laugh it off! 🙂 The best part was, Mr A decided to be the *rescuer* of his toys. He scooped up as many soft toys as possible in his arms and took them away …. cute.

Saturday Snapshots.

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

Saturday morning. Soccer. Calvin is usually very excited to go to his soccer class. This morning, he woke up on time, dressed himself in his soccer gear, including his shin pads and long socks without any help! The shin pads are a little tricky to wear as they need to be tucked into the socks nicely at the shin area. I usually have to help him, but not this morning. 🙂 I’m glad he has shown such enthusiasm. Athan wanted to tag along. He had fun too, running with the ball and me. Great start for the weekend!

Board Games.

Friday, August 20th, 2010

Of late, Calvin has taken to playing board games. He likes to play board games with his friends at school and with me at home. Have you noticed I have left Athan out of the picture when it comes to playing board games? Well, at this stage, Athan is not very good at playing board games. Basically, he is too young. He wants to join in whenever we are playing, but as he can’t keep up with the pace and he refuses help, he is often a distraction as in, he will take the die and hide it or overturn the board or misplace the pieces — these are all very annoying, especially to Calvin. This is an example:

Check out the looks on the boys’ faces. Not very pretty. 🙂 We were playing “snake and ladder” half way when Athan decided he had enough and began his “tricks” on us. He took the die and all our playing tokens and refused to return to us. We had to stop the game until Mr A decide to return the pieces to us — by which time, Mr C had lost interest. I feel sorry for Calvin, but at the same time I do understand that Athan is too young to participate. Oh well, time will heal. 🙂
