Cough And Cold.

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

Calvin is currently down with cough and cold. He was so well on Friday when he went to school and then without any warning, he started coughing the next day. Right now, his nose is quite runny too. He woke up several times last night coughing non-stop. At some point, it felt like he was going to throw up. He didn’t. Poor boy. At the rate he is coughing, I am sure Athan is going to catch his bug soon. *sigh*

New Term.

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

Today is the start of a new term for Calvin at his kindy. He was all excited and ready to go early in the morning. I have been talking about going back to school with him since last week as I wanted to prepare him. Well, it turned out that he was more ready than I expected.

The boy woke up so early this morning, earlier than me! He wanted his breakfast and his lunch bag packed, and was giving me *orders* of what to put in his box. So bossy. He wanted his usual — avocado, chicken and cheese sandwich with cucumber packed separately, for lunch. My son really knows how to *order* his food, and its good food. He dislikes ham and won’t even want to try a slice. This means more work for me when it comes to packing his lunch, but I am quite happy to do it because at least I know that he is eating healthy food. Then, he started to hurry me to get him changed etc etc and kept saying “ma ma, kuai din, wo men chi le! xue xiao yao guan men le! (mum, quick, we are late! the school is closing!). I was watching the time and reassured him we were doing OK, but of course he won’t listen to me. It was kind of stressful for me as I had to attend to Athan as well. Anyway, we were on time.

When we arrived at the school, his good friend, Will arrived with his dad too. These 2 immediately exchanged greetings and raced to the entrance of the school. Once inside, they ran to the back play area, put on their hats and went straight for the bikes and another round of racing started. Boys will be boys. I went to Calvin and thought I’d stay with him for a little bit, but before I could say anything, he looked me in the eye and said in English “mummy, I want you to go home now.” I certainly did not expect that from him, and I asked him “why?”. That was such a *silly* question now that I think of it, but that was all I could managed. He repeated himself “mummy, I want you to go home now.” I was a little sad *sob* but I know I should be happy for my little boy. Sad because it felt like my little boy did not need me anymore …. it is a strange feeling. I knew I should go, but before that I suggested a little prayer with him, and he was fine with that. So, I prayed a little prayer with him and I left.

When I got home, I told Robin about my experience with Calvin and he told me Calvin told him to go home too, when he dropped him at day care. And, I asked if he was OK with that, he just casually said “Ya!”. Gee … I wonder why I feel more emotional than him …..:)
