There is definitely a flu bug going around ….. lots of people that I know of are currently down with coughs and colds. Yikes! Our own Mr A happens to be one of the victims, unfortunately.
He had a runny nose for a few days last week and then on Monday evening, he began to develop a fever and a even more runny nose. His appetite dropped at dinner and was rather cranky for a while. By the next morning, he had *sticky* eye. Yup, eye infection. Robin brought him to the GP and was given a script for a anti-biotic eye drop. It has been a HUGE struggle for us to try to put the eye drop into Athan’s eyes. He screamed very loudly and shut his so tightly that it was near impossible to peel open it. Robin had to hold him down while I tried to get a drop into each eye. It is all about timing. I should also add that we sprayed a saline based solution into Athan’s nose to help unblock his blocked nose. The boy screamed like there’s no tomorrow. Well, who can blame him? It must be so horrifying for him to have the eye drops followed by a nasal spray! I really felt sorry for the boy, but we have to administer the treatments to help him get better. There has been some night waking too, due to blocked nose and dry throat. Poor fellow.
Today seemed to be a better day for Athan. The fever seems to have gone and his nose is not runny any more. His eyes have cleared up beautifully too. He is much happier, so are we.
