On our way home from day care one day …. my little boy was waiting to spot a fire-engine …..
Athan: Ma ma, fire-engine zai na li (where’s the fire-engine)?
Me: (while trying hard to concentrate on driving at the jammed freeway) Um…. wo bu zhi dao (I don’t know).
Athan: wo yao fire-engine! (I want fire-engine)
Me: But there’s no fire-engine today!
Athan: (began to throw tantrum) I WANT!
Me: (getting impatient) There’s no fire, so no fire-engine, ok?
Athan: I want fire!
*sigh* …. what will he NOT do to see a fire-engine? 🙂 This is the wonderful world of a two-year-old. Glad that I am part of the life of one. 🙂
