Backyard Dinner With Good Friends.

We had our good friends – the Lams over for dinner tonight. It will be a very long time before we can have such dinner with them again.  They are moving to Europe for a while because of work.  And so, the kids won’t be able to play with each other for a long time!  Calvin will be very sad to see Alison go and I am sure he will miss her.  These 2 have grown up together and they play really really well together.  There’s hardly any fighting between them when they play.

They played ball and entertained themselves with self-invented games using things they found at the yard.  We hardly had to supervise them.  Even Amy and Athan joined in the fun.   There was no drama at all.  They had fun. That’s the most important!

The kids ate pretty well too.  I made a roast chicken, potato wedges and hummus dip.  We even ordered a couple of pizzas to add to the feast.  It was a good dinner.  The adults had time to catch up after dinner because the kids played so well together.  We talked about so many things — work, family kids ….. I will miss such times with our friends.

Athan ate really well and he seemed to like the hummus dip — it was the first time he tried hummus.  Our friends just could not get over how much Athan ate!  This boy ate some roast chicken, pizzas and he really enjoyed dipping the potato wedges in the hummus.   He just sat in his highchair and ate and ate — without a sound! I have to quickly add that Mr Athan does not always behave at meal time.  Sometimes he does play up and refuse to eat.  He was just having a good day this evening.

This is Amy making a funny face at me when I asked her to give me a smile.  She knew I was taking a picture of her and she just wanted to be cheeky. 🙂 This little girl has grown a lot too.  She is much more mature and settled now.  She used to cry and fuss at meal times at our home when she was younger.  Her parents, especially her mum could not have their dinner at peace. Those were the days … the children are all growing up very quickly.

We will surely miss our friends, but I am sure we will be in touch.  Thanks to the internet! Here’s wishing our friends a safe trip to their destination and a blessed year ahead.  God bless.
